A mountaineering via ferrata trip to the Dolomites in northern Italy, where we'll explore its equipped trails and via ferratas. We'll always be accompanied by an expert guide who will help us enjoy both the scenery and the excitement of riding the via ferratas. Within the vast Dolomites, we've chosen two very distinctive and very different mountain ranges, always with the aim of hiking trails that feature some via ferrata sections along the route. This isn't the main objective, but rather the spectacular landscapes we pass through.
Thus, we've designed three routes in the Pale di San Martino massif and another three in the Brenta massif. Six routes to enjoy stunning trails, fun via ferratas, and landscapes that will fill our retinas with unforgettable memories.
Keep in mind that the routes last between 6 and 8 hours, and the via ferratas are only 150 to 500 meters long. It's also important that your accommodations are not far from the routes, so as not to waste too much time traveling to the start of the routes.
You don't need ferrata equipment, and in terms of experience, you only need to have completed a simple via ferrata in Spain. The activity isn't technically difficult. In terms of physical demands, there are no steep or overly athletic steps, but you do need good endurance because there are long, steep routes, some even very long. One day, you'll even need to cross a glacier with an ice axe and crampons, but if you've never done it before, you'll find that this is more of a reward than a challenge.

Itinerary
Day 1: Madrid-Milan/Bergamo Trip
We will depart from Barajas Airport for Bergamo Airport. Transfer to the hotel in San Martino di Castrozza. Overnight stay and dinner.
Day 2: Via Ferrata del Velo and Vecchia
We begin in the Primiero Valley, connecting two via ferratas through a spectacular route. Near San Martino di Castrozza, we will begin our hike, starting from the Malga Zivertaghe refuge (1,375 m) where we will take the route that ascends to the Velo della Madonna refuge (2,358 m), in a spectacular location. From here, we'll take the path that will immediately lead us to the Via Ferrata del Velo (100 m long), which we'll pass on the way to the Rosetta refuge. We won't reach it, as we'll detour down the path to San Martino, passing through the Via Ferrata Vecchia (100 m long) to the trail that will take us to the town, completing a stunning route (8 hours) of enormous beauty, with via ferratas of easy difficulty.
Day 3: Cacciatore and Buzzati Via Ferratas
We'll move to the nearby Pradidali Valley for a beautiful circular route combining hiking with two via ferratas that are slightly more technical than those we did the day before.
We'll begin the hike at the Fosne parking lot, at an altitude of 1,400 m, where we'll take the Troi de Ródena trail, which connects with the path that goes through the Pradidali Valley to an altitude of 1,627 m. We'll then take the path that penetrates the heart of the limestone massif, passing through the Cacciatore via ferrata (250 m long). This will lead us to a pass on the main ridge. We'll then join the path that skirts the Cimerlo summit (2,505 m) south and begins the descent via Buzzatti via ferrata (350 m long) back to the Fosne parking lot (8 h). We'll return to the hotel.
Day 4: BolverLugli Via Ferrata
To complete the hikes through the Pale di San Martino, we've chosen the BolverLugli via ferrata, considered one of the best in the Dolomites. This is the most challenging of the three hikes we'll take in this massif, which is why we've left it for last among the routes through the Pale di San Martino. You'll take a cable car from the village of San Martino to Bar Colverde (1,965 m), where you'll begin walking along the path that leads to the via ferrata (500 m long) that leads to Bivac Fiamme Gialle (3,005 m). From here, you'll descend into the Cantoni Valley and cross the Bettegai Pass (2,660 m), descending along the path back to Bar Colverde (8 hours). Simply extraordinary.
Day 5: Bolzano
Transfer day to Madonna di Campligio, in the Brenta Dolomites, stopping en route in Bolzano to visit this beautiful town. Hotel accommodation.
Day 6: Benini Via Ferrata and the Brochette
In Madonna di Campligio, we'll take the cable car up to the Pradalago bar (2,088 m), following the path that leads to the summit of Monte Zeledria (2,426 m). On the descent, we'll pass the Umberto Brozzetto via ferrata, built in 1983 (150 m in short sections), which will lead us to Lake Seródoli (2,370 m). This route is partly marked by the Giro dei 5 Laghi, which we will follow as our route passes by Lakes Lambin and Nambino before returning to Madonna di Campligio (7 hours).
Day 7: SOSAT Via Ferrata
This is an extremely beautiful route, as it runs through the central core of Brenta. The SOSAT Via Ferrata is part of the Viadelle Bocchette, which runs along the spine of the central and southern massifs of the Brenta Dolomites. It was built between 1930 and 1969. To complete this via ferrata, we will start from the Vallesinella refuge (1,513 m), ascending along the trail to the Casinei refuge, and then to the Tuckett refuge, a refuge located at a strategic point where several routes intersect. We will continue our route along the trail that leads to the SOSAT Via Ferrata (200 m long), after which we will reach the Maria e Alberto ai Brentei refuge (2,182 m), from where we will descend back to the starting point, completing a beautiful and varied route (8 h).
Day 8: Gustavo Vidi Via Ferrata
To conclude this trip, we have chosen the Gustavo Vidi Trail, also on the central axis of the Brenta Dolomites. We'll take the cable car from Campo Carlo Magno in Madonna di Campligio to the Groste Pass (2,442 m), next to the Stoppani refuge. There, we'll take the trail that runs along the western slope and passes through the via ferrata (500 m intermittent) bordering the Pietra Grande massif. Following the trail, we'll reach the Gelada di Campligio valley amidst dense forest, returning to Campo Carlo Magno (1,651 m) (6:30 a.m.).
