Legend has it that Satan himself placed a cauldron full of gold on the summit of Peña Blanca for the first person to tread upon it, thus delighting in the accidents caused by greed.
We won't go that far, but we're going on a lovely hiking excursion near Madrid, in Ávila, to some little-known corners that will surprise us with their beauty and the depth of their forests. Are we playing for a piece of gold?

From the Cueva Hostel parking lot, we'll approach the unique quarry where hundreds of grooved stones were carved to build the planned, and soon-to-be abandoned, water pipeline from this part of the mountain range to the Monastery of El Escorial.
We'll then head deep into the forest to reach the Valle Enmedio campsite and ascend through the Toril Valley to reach one of the most charming corners of the Sierra, Valle Enmedio.
Another stretch of ascent and we reach the foot of Peña Blanca, a beautiful spot from which we'll descend along a short path, which will make us feel as if we were discovering the mountains. There's still a long, easy stretch ahead, where all that's left to do is enjoy ourselves, chat about what we've done, and think about new adventures with Yurok Adventures.
