It is a hiking route with exceptional natural beauty. Aside the important Dehesa de Somosierra, with one of the best (if not the best) birch forests in the central zone, all the descent to Buitrago crosses a humanized space, but very rural, with a continuous alternation of meadows, fences, paths and roads that give the route a very special and varied character. An excellent opportunity to make a first incursion and initiation to hiking.

From the port of Somosierra we will descend to the birch foresrt, the current meadow of the town of Somosierra. After crossing it we will descend to the village of Horcajo de la Sierra, Aoslos, Piñuecar and from there to Buitrago.
Difficulty of the route
Average for its length and low for its difficulty, given that it does not present raised features and the descent is very long with a very smooth slope.
Recommended equipment
Mountain boots, waterproof jacket, canes, food, water (at least 1.5 liters), personal medicine kit, glucose, etc.
