Objectives:
To expand technical mountaineering knowledge to undertake moderately difficult routes and ascents in winter mountains that require the use of ropes, belay devices, and auxiliary maneuvers. To gain an introduction to ascending couloirs and channels with snow or mixed terrain.
Contents:
Specific mountaineering equipment and safety gear: ropes, descender-brake, stakes, and snow anchors.
Meteorology and snow science. Logistics and route planning. Risk prevention (avalanches, hypothermia, frostbite, etc.).
Snow belay techniques: anchors and anchors in snowy and mixed terrain, bouldering, Abalakov and makeshift ice bridges. Body belay, boot ice axe, hip ice axe, and trench belay.
Rope and team progression techniques. Descent techniques: snow mushroom rappelling, ice axe rappelling, secured descents, and sliding.
Duration: One weekend (Saturday and Sunday) or two days, approximately 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Location: Sierra de Guadarrama.
Group: Minimum 1 student. Maximum 3 students.
Requirements:
Have completed a Level 1 Initiation Mountaineering course or have proven experience in winter mountaineering.
Price per person:
€170 (for groups of 3 students).
€235 (for 2 students).
€450 (for 1 student).
*If the course is held outside the Community of Madrid, the student will be responsible for their own accommodation and overnight stay at the refuge (on a half-time basis). The instructor's transportation, meals, and lodging costs will be shared among all participating students.

One mountaineering instructor.
Two intensive days of training in advanced mountaineering and technical winter mountaineering.
Approved group equipment: Ropes, belay devices, quickdraws and carabiners, stakes, ice screws, etc.

Individual equipment required for the course:
Hiking boots suitable for snow. Winter pants, fleece, and a snow jacket. Preferably, a Gorotex jacket or similar fabric. Gloves, a hat, and sunglasses. A small backpack (minimum 25L) with a 1.5-liter water bottle, sunscreen, and a change of clothing.
Each student must bring their own harness, helmet, ice axe, and crampons (if you don't have technical equipment, Yurok can rent it to you); as well as rigid or semi-rigid hiking boots, preferably cramponable.
