Midid'Ossau Peak is a Pyrenean peak rising to 2,884 meters, located in the French department of Pyrénées-Atlantiques, a short distance from the Spanish border.
Although it is far from the three-thousanders of the Central Pyrenees, its majesty and characteristics make it stand out among the most renowned mountains in the northern part of the Iberian Peninsula.
Remains of the magma of an ancient volcano, in the now-disappeared vent. It stands out among the other mountains for its black color and pyramidal shape, even in winter, as its verticality prevents snow accumulation.

Day 1: Madrid Trip
Departure at 7:30 am from Madrid. Travel by van to El Portalet. The approach from El Portalet leads us along a comfortable path to the Pombie refuge (2,031 m) in just over an hour.
Day 2: Monte du Midid'Ossau
From the Pombie refuge, it will take us an hour to reach the Souzón pass, which places us at the base of the face. The route will require us to overcome three chimneys (max. II+/III), and then progress over easier, though somewhat unstable, terrain to the summit.
Despite not being a 3,000-meter peak, Pic du Midid'Ossau will leave a very good taste in our mouths after the ascent.
