A different Alicante—this is the phrase that best defines the trip, as we're presented with four exciting days with four different landscapes to enjoy splendid days of hiking and trekking in Alicante.
We'll climb the two most important peaks in the province, see one of the most beautiful canyons, and, if that weren't enough, we'll finish with a route along cliffs completely unknown to outsiders, all from the town of Altea.

Day 1: Madrid - Barranc de l'Encantá
Departure at 7:30 a.m. from Madrid. We will arrive around lunchtime. After lunch, we will hike the Barranc de l'Encantá, a route that will offer fantastic views of Beniarrés and its reservoir, with the impressive Benicadell ridge in the background. We will walk among terraces of almond, olive, and cherry trees. We will enter the Barranc de l'Encantá and reach the impressive Gorg del Salt.
From there, we will continue, knowing that further ahead, the ravine becomes narrower, narrower, and its walls become higher. We will pass by the Molí de l'Encantada, now just a ruin. From there, the trail begins a slight ascent to exit the ravine. At the bottom of the reservoir, the waters flow silently toward the Beniarrés Reservoir. From this point, we skirt the northwest side of the Sierra del Cantalar mountain range to return to Planes.
After the tour, we'll board the van to head to the town of Altea, where we'll stay.
(12 km/300 m elevation gain)
Day 2: Ascent to Puig Campana
Puig Campana, at 1,408 meters above sea level, is the second highest peak in the province of Alicante. The mountain dominates the Marina Baixa region. After breakfast, we'll head to Finestrat, a village at the foot of the mountains. From there, we'll begin the ascent to Puig Campana, following a circular route.
Distance: 5h45min/14.1km
Elevation: 1070m
Return to the hotel in Altea
Day 3: The Cliffs Route - Madrid
Finally, we'll take the cliffs route, a route that will leave us with a good taste in our mouths before we begin our return journey.
The path will guide us to the foot of the impressive cliffs that make up the Benitatxell coast. Some of them reach a height of 100 meters. Along the way, we come across various caves. These are very basic structures that were once used by the fishermen and farmers of Benitatxell, who were common in these parts. Little by little, turn after turn, we approach Cala del Llebeig. Finally, it appears before us. Perhaps not as large or as beautiful as Cala del Moraig, but certainly much more unspoiled. It's hard to believe that there are still corners of Alicante with such beauty. From Cala del Llebeig, we can continue the route through the Barranc de la Viuda. It's a radical change of scenery. We pass through a shady and humid area. It's surprising that the sea is just a few hundred meters away, as it feels more like we're in the most mountainous part of Alicante.
After the route, we return to Madrid around 8:00 pm.
