Descent of Portilla Canyon

The portilla canyon is located in the Serranía de Cuenca, close to Villalba de la Sierra. This canyon is made of consecutive rappels (the biggest one 12 meters) and its last section is well know for being very narrow, which makes it pretty attractive and exciting, and will surely leaves with great memories. 

With a 30 minute approach and almost no distance of return, is perfect to start in canyoning, as well as for already experienced people.

The Yurok Adventures guide will receive you in Villalba de la Sierra. From there we will go up the road until we reach the town of Portilla, where we will park the car and distribute the individual material (neoprene, booties, helmet, harness and anchor baga). Once equipped we will make the approximation of 20-30 minutes. Once there the guide will lead you through the canyon, full of rappels and waterfalls. The estimated time is about 3 hours of descent.

Once the activity is finished, in 20 minutes we will return to the cars, time to have a drink and return the material to the guide.

 

The group is made of a minimum of 5 persons and a máximum of 15.

The ratio will always be of 1 guide /15 clients.

Special prices for groups over 8 persons.

In case of not being reached the minimal group, the activity would be canceled. There is the possibilty of paying a extra for small group: 20 € for groups of 4 persons and 30 € for groups of 2-3 persons. This option is only posible if all the clients agree to pay the extra.

  2. Boots or sneakers for the canyon (not flip-flops). This gear will get wet, so it's a good idea to leave spare footwear in the car.
  3. Water (minimum 1L), a snack, sunscreen, and lip balm.

It's very important to wear shoes with good soles and supportive ankle support. Slipping is common, and the hikers will be on uneven, wet surfaces, which can cause loss of balance.

Optional: Canyoning boots can be rented for €6.
