Why choose Yurok Climbing School?

At Yurok, our goal is to develop a progressive and comprehensive climbing sports program, aimed at children and young people from 4 to 16 years old.

The program is divided into three stages and seeks to promote the development of children and young people through different areas of sport, encompassing a process that extends from the initial stages of the sport to the development of sports skills.

If you would like to learn more about our training program, please don't hesitate to call or write to us. Most importantly, no prior climbing knowledge is required.

The initial stage of the sport develops general aspects of the sporting activity. Play is used as a fundamental methodological tool. The main objective is to stimulate and explore all the aspects that arise from climbing, such as coordination, balance, motor skills, spatial orientation, laterality, socio-affective aspects, self-care, safety, among others. The program considers recognizing the physical and emotional characteristics and development of the participating children, in order to respect their timing and abilities.

OBJECTIVES:

The fundamental objective of this group is:

To develop movement skills and abilities through play and fun and challenging physical activity. Gradually allowing the incorporation of these types of activities into daily routines.

To develop agility, balance, coordination, and speed. To provide each child with a solid foundation of movement and risk management skills, which can later be used in sport climbing.

To stimulate body literacy through a variety of activities.

Transition Stage. At this age, students develop aspects derived from the previous group and are now at a more advanced stage of development. More specific technical content is gradually incorporated, with the aim of reinforcing aspects of personal safety and self-care. The session will progressively incorporate training aspects, but close attention will be paid to the evaluation and individual capacity of the children. At this stage, participation in climbing tournaments or climbing meets is assessed, but on an exploratory basis.

OBJECTIVES:

The objectives of this stage are:

Practice and master fundamental motor skills and patterns.

Develop fundamental sports skills, integrating a variety of movements in sports situations.

Continue developing body literacy through a wide variety of sports activities and experiences.

Above all, provide FUN in the activities, games, and learning experiences that allow them to build competence in motor skills, movement, and confidence in themselves and within the group.

Group 3: Ages 10 to 16: This stage is more focused on the technical and specific development of climbing, without forgetting that overall, it is a training program that also seeks to establish climbing as a comprehensive sport in every possible way. Participation in sport climbing tournaments and competitions is assessed, as appropriate.

OBJECTIVES:

The objectives of this stage are:

Improve agility, balance, coordination, and strength and speed skills. Develop general athletic skills.

Perfect movement and basic athletic skills through initial participation in structured and planned sports. Continue developing a "climbing vocabulary."

Although they will likely practice other sports, we should encourage contact and practice with different sports activities to stimulate the comprehensive development of their individual and social-emotional abilities.

At this stage, participation in high-level competition is not yet considered, as they are not yet ready for high-intensity training.

Activities should be fun and appropriate to the child's developmental stage and abilities.
